Arc'teryx Atom LT Hoody Review

For any lovers of the alpine, this is an incredibly useful and versatile hoody.

Regardless of whether you're a commuter looking to do some walking, backcountry skier, hiker, or intense climber — it's going to keep you warm.

People wear it as both a standalone and a mid-layer. It provides excellent performance in varied output levels and conditions.

The implemented compact insulation technology from Coreloft has proven revolutionary, allowing you to retain warmth regardless of wetness and with a durability that sustains through countless unpacking and packing occasions.

The face fabric is also sturdy and yet durable and soft — along with also being water-resistant, it contains stretchable side panels for freedom of movement and ventilation.

What We Like About the Arc'teryx Atom LT Hoody

One of the most significant positive traits of the Atom LT hoody is its excellent synthetic insulation.

It's not exactly going to replace your more heavy-duty jacket in the coldest winter conditions. That being said, it's undoubtedly an excellent outer layer for the variable weather during spring and fall.

Furthermore, snow sport enthusiasts that need additional protection from the elements will be overjoyed when using it as a mid-layer.

The excellent Coreloft insulation is spread out throughout the jacket, not counting the side panels, which makes this both a stretchy and insulation-heavy piece of clothing.

What We Don't Like About the Arc'teryx Atom LT Hoody

If you use this as your outer layer in mildly cold weather, you should do just fine. However, there's one technical issue with this jacket that we've found to be slightly annoying.

Mainly, it's the fact that the zipper on this jacket is known to open up quite easily.

When you want to take it off quickly, that's a feature and not an issue. But if you make any sudden hectic moves while wearing it, there's a chance that it will begin unzipping on its own, exposing you to the outside cold immediately.

Not counting that, this is a sturdy choice for anyone looking to keep themselves warm on long hikes.

Final Thoughts

The Arc'teryx Atom LT Hoody is an excellent and versatile mid layer or stand alone option that provides adequate warmth and protection for a backcountry adventure.
