This fairly new brand is known for its affordable price on a vast selection of products.

And with the thorough product research, development, design, and manufacturing, Naturehike products will match up with any outdoor adventure.

As one of the most affordable tents listed on Amazon, the Naturehike Cloud-Up is a lightweight and robust tent that offers quality insulation and easy setup.

But does it provide the features and performance that you need for your next trip? Let’s find out!

Who is the Naturehike Cloud-Up Tent Best Suited For

Although this tent fits two people, with two full-sized campers in the tent, it can feel a bit snug.

If having a spacious and roomy tent is a high priority, you may want to size up and purchase the 3P. Conversely, the 2P tight fit is an excellent size for solo backpackers.

Performance of the Naturehike Cloud-Up Tent

Weight & Packed Size

pack size of naturehike cloud up 2 tent

As a backpacker, the weight of the tent is an extremely pertinent detail when choosing your shelter.

The Cloud-Up 2P weighs 4.7 lbs., and that includes the tent, pegs, rope, groundsheet, and rain fly.

This weight doesn’t break any lightweight tent records but remains a reasonable backpacking weight.

If you have decided you would like to size up for a more spacious experience, the 3P weighs 5.7 lbs.

And if you are a solo backpacker and are comfortable with the tight fit and are more concerned about the weight on your back, the 1P weighs 3.8 lbs.

The Cloud Up packs down to 17.7” x 5.9” according to Naturehike’s specs.

Interior Livable Space

Two sleeping pads will cover the entire floor of the tent. The porch offers tight spacing, fitting only a few pairs of shoes.

There is room to sit up in the tent, but it’s a close fit.

The 2P offers a tent area of 91 (L) x 43 (W) x 39 (H) inches. The only entrance of the tent is the zippered front door.

You also probably want to get a cozy double sleeping bag for the colder nights.

Durability

The Naturehike Cloud-Up is a 3-season tent that offers extensive protection through rain, wind, cold, and hot weather conditions.

With the material made out of 210T rip-top polyester, it helps to prevent any tears or rips.

The tent poles and pegs are both made out of aluminum, sustaining the durable and strong quality for the tent setup.

The footprint also extends the life of the tent. Among its other uses, the footprint adds a protective layer under your tent to prevent tears if the ground is full of sharp rocks.

Weather Protection

A full-coverage PU3000mm rain cover comes with the tent to protect you and your belongings from wet weather.

The walls of the tent are steep enough to continue to runoff so that you won’t get pools of water on the top.

Also, it provides sun-protection for UV rays of 50+.

In windy conditions, the tent stands sturdy without making a lot of noise or blowing in the wind.

Although it is a 3-season tent, it can handle some snowy weather as well.

I camped in this tent when the weather conditions were below freezing and was able to stay warm.

Ventilation

The Naturehike is a double layer tent made of mostly nylon, polyester, and mesh material. The mesh at the top of the tent helps to reduce condensation and provides a considerable amount of airflow in the small space.

In warmer weather, you’re able to adjust by taking off the rainfly leaving the tent to get full air circulation.

Also, in wet, rainy, or snowy weather, you have the option to have the rainfly to cover the tent.

You can also use the footprint and the rainfly together as a different setup without the mesh layer.

Storage Space

There are no pockets in this tent. For some backpackers, that could be a deal-breaker. There is, however, a hook that hangs from the ceiling for a lantern.

Ease of Setup/Takedown

The setup of the tent is pretty straight-forward. The Cloud-Up 2 has one connecting pole that brings this tent alive and livable.

Set up time is 10 minutes or less. Takedown takes about the same amount of time.

The Cloud-Up is a free-standing tent, which makes pitching the tent easy on hard or loose ground.

If you expect strong wind while camping, ensure to use the stakes to keep the lightweight tent stagnant.

What We Like about the Naturehike Cloud-Up Tent

Easy to Setup. With less than 10 minutes set up time, it doesn’t get much better.

Price. Considering that all lightweight gear is usually a pretty penny to purchase, the Cloud-Up offers exceptional shelter for hikers on a budget as it sells for only MSRP $109. This price also include the footprint which often times is sold separately.

Durability. Again, this tent provides durability and sturdiness, especially during a storm. I have been in it while a windstorm was taking place, and it handled the weather magnificently.

What We Don’t Like about the Naturehike Cloud-Up Tent

Size. The two-person Naturehike Cloud-Up is a bit snug with two full-sized campers inside. Keep in mind a lenient rule of thumb; tents are supposed to be sized-up, meaning: two-person tents are for a single person, three-person tents are for two. With two people inside, expect to be touching the walls.

We highly recommend sizing up one size if you and your fellow camper are looking for something more voluminous.

No Side Pockets. A great way to stay organized while camping in a tent is the side pockets that generally hang from the tent walls. Unfortunately, this tent does not offer that option.

Is the Naturehike Cloud-Up Good Value for Money?

As mentioned earlier, the MSRP of Naturehike Cloud-Up 2 is $109, which is one of the cheapest (if not the most inexpensive) lightweight yet robust tents found on the market.

Keep in mind backpackers are going to pay a high price for any lightweight gear or equipment, so the fact the Cloud-Up 2 offers a reliable experience and is still affordable positions the Naturehike tent as a top contender.

The Naturehike company is committed to great customer service when it comes to returns or exchange policy, so if you have issues, you are still able to get it corrected.

While there are numerous comparable tents at competitive prices, below are a few additional options to consider.

The Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 is a great lightweight tent option weighing at 3lb 2oz (1.42kg).  Check out our in-depth review  to see why it is one of the most popular tents on the market.

Big Agnes Flycreek HV Ultralight Tent

With a packed weight of 2.5lbs, the Big Agnes HV Ultralight 2P Tent is 2lbs lighter   than the Naturehike Cloud-Up tent. However, where you cut in weight, you will gain in cost since the company uses top-of-the-line materials. This tent is a bit more spacious inside with the dimensions of 86 (L) x 52 (W) x 40 (H) inches. Also, it has three interior mesh pockets to keep organized.

Marmot Crane Creek 2-Person Ultra Lightweight Tent

A little more budget-friendly than the Big Agnes, the Marmot Crane Creek 2P is a 32 square foot durable tent for backpackers looking for that comfort and spacious feel. This tent weighs 4.6 lbs., which is a smidge lighter than the Naturehike tent.

Final Verdict

The Naturehike Cloud-Up, as one of the cheapest lightweight tents for backpacking Amazon offers, is an easy-to-set-up and durable front-runner for backpacking trips.

It’s super packable and offers immense weather protection for any conditions you may endure on your journey. It’s a spacious tent for one person, but still acceptable for two people on a weekend or shorter trips.

Happy Hiking!
